Does anyone have any experience with the HR band failing on the Garmin Edge
305? I replaced the battery but that didn't help. The GPS unit just doesn't read the HR band. Any ideas would be appreciated. Keep on Cycling! |

You're supposed to take the elastic cloth strap off of the plastic before putting it through the wash. Just kidding. Perhaps you started up the unit while other HR straps were in the area and it got crossed up. Funny when the 305 reports that you HR was 230 and you swear that its under 140 - it might just be interference from the guy that is on your wheel. as "joe" said, have it rescan for HR devices while you are wearing it close by. If that doesn't work, flash the firmware. If that doesn't work, give it the hard reset technique of holding down the mode and reset buttons for > 10 seconds while powered off. If that doesn't work, tech support can be helpful. good luck. I'm looking forward to relegating the 305 to the spare bike and putting a 705 into use. -bdbafh |

Along with the ideas others presented, it's also possible, if it's seen a *lot* of use, that the conductive surfaces (the electrodes that read the electrical impulses through your skin) may have simply worn out. --Mike Jacoubowsky Chain Reaction Bicycles www.ChainReaction.com Redwood City & Los Altos, CA USA |
