Default first 10 mile time trial

I am currently recovering from my first attempt at a 10 mile time trial
(Horsham-Crawley dual cariageway). The evening didn't start too well when I
left home and heard a nasty creaking sound coming from my rear wheel,
suggesting something wrong with the bearings (possibly). Had to return and
get the other bike, a birdy folder. Felt a bit of a wally turning up with
everyone there with carbon fibre bikes complete with tri-bars and aero
wheels, and me looking like I'm on my way to central London. Managed to get
round in 28:29 which was near the bottom but at least I broke the half hour.
I need to improve by about two minutes to get within the main bunch; I'll
have to wait for another three weeks to see if I can do that on my road
bike.

Well done Adam - that's about what I got on my first TT a couple of years
ago! Hope you have a bottomless wallet if you get sucked in big! ;-)

I've never done a time trial but that sounds a fair bit quicker than I
could manage on my 'quick' bike so well done.

So you didn't come last? Did you beat people with carbon fibre bikes,
tri-bars and aero wheels? <g>

Time trials are against yourself

I've done 10 mile TT's on a 18 gear tourer (with
dynahub proudly ON), sit up and beg "black bike",
fixed gear vintage Claud Butler.

Other people have gone faster than me.

Not a worry.

Well done for an excellent time on your Birdy!

I will be interested to see how much I can improve with successive attempts.
I would guess that increasing experience should lead to improvement alone
(knowing how hard to push).
