Isn't it basically carbon fibre, just a different kind of carbon
fibre.
I think the reporter was missing a few bits when he said it was just
the tyres and chain that aren't cardboard, what about the axles,
chainring etc. And where are the brakes?

Actually cellulose fibre. The bamboo bike is nicer, and it works.

The designer decided to use recycled material as a gimmick rather than
because it's appropriate. As for the comment "so cheap it's not worth
stealing", lots of bikes get nicked for a joyride or to get home from
the pub, not because of their value.

And random chopped mat at that - you don't make bikes out of random
chopped mat carbon fibre.

Would it actually be any cheaper than a gaspipe bso? It looks like a
vaguely-bsoso to me.

The video I saw yesterday did not have anyone riding it -can it be
ridden or is it a display only model?
