Default Sport Chalet has Marin bikes!

Does that mean then that Marin has low-end models of bikes, or they
are not a good brand to begin with?

It is in this Sunday's circular:
'08 Kentfield 21-speed comfort bike
$349.99

Marin makes a fine bike and the Kentfield is a perfectly decent model
for rambling around the neighborhood or fetching things. I'd stay away
from it only if you're plus sized due to the suspension fork and
single wall rims having their limitations.

The Muirwoods for $450 list is a little more robust with 26" wheels
and no bouncy bits and for a little over $500 you get the Belvedere
with double wall 700c rims and color matched fenders and a roadie
drivetrain with a more aggressive ergonomiics.

The Kentfield doesn't have a suspension fork, but it does
have a suspension seatpost. I have one and it's fine for
tooling around.

Yup, my google fu pulled up the FS model that the local REI and Sun
and Ski carries for $50 more--it's got a doinger on the front end.

That's a good entry level bike. No weird bits. Normal accessories bolt
right on. If things break, they're stupidly cheap to replace.
