I'd like to get a wheelset for the slick tires on my Giant NRS3 and use the orignial Alex Rims Ace18 for the (backup) stock knobby tires.
Are there XC-xuited wheelsets below US$300? If none, what is the entry level pricing for this? Kindly please suggest brands and models. Thanks! |

For a tad over 200 dollars Colorado cyclist mates XT hubs to Mavic 517 rims. That's what I have been racing all summer... Colorado cyclist makes a really good set of wheels, perfectly true, tensioned, and strong. Is your setup 7 or 8 speed in the rear?

Shimano XT hubs with Mavic 517 rims are good. I can hand build you a pair using DT DB 14/15 3X spokes for $195. I take care to spoke align, tension balance, true, center, and stress relieve. I use all new components. The wheels are for 8/9 speed Shimano HG cassettes or 7 speed with a spacer. David Ornee, Western Springs, IL |
