Default 2005 raleigh grand prix vs. 2006 specialized tarmac comp frame

happy weekend everyone, been a while since my last post on the site.

i purchased a 2005 raleigh grand prix (all aluminum with 105 components, alexrim wheels) a little over 3 years ago to try out road riding to turn over from mountain biking, and i loved road riding from my first trip out on the bike. since that day, i wanted to update my bike into a more aggressive, stiffer frame and better components to be more competitive in my training and the occasional group ride.

i was at the LBS today and found a built-up '06 specialized tarmac comp frame with ultegra gearset (and it is my size, the raleigh is too large), alexrim wheels (not the stock mavic), and double crankset (current bike has triple). the tarmac has a $2000 price tag, and, by price, appears to be a better bike (i spent $800 on the raleigh). problem is i don't have much more than that to spend on a better bike. i figure the older frame and built-up ultegra 10-speed would be appropriate for my price range.

so i've got 2 choices: buy the new bike and get a carbon fiber bike with overall better components or wait another month for the 2008 bikes to go on sale.

or should i consider updating the less aggressive raleigh frame with new wheels? but i would really love to have a bike that fits me (the raleigh is a size too large).

if one of you fellow riders were in the same situation as me, what would you do?

i appreciate and thank anyone in advance for any advice.
