Default Track Wheels

Does anybody understand the new wheel regulations of the UCI regarding the impact testing and the criteria for meeting these standards? I have read the new rule but am not sure if it applies only to road racing wheels or all wheels to be used in any race except a TT. Will my Specialised Tri spokes be banned for racing on the track in massed start events?

Default Re: Track Wheels

Your interpretation that the rule applies only to Road massed start events is correct. For some reason the wording of the rule actually states "road" events and at no stage in the wording does it refer to "track" and therefore by the exclusion of the word track with the inclusion of the word road we trackies can use any wheel we like. I have had this confirmed to me by an aquaintance of mine, "Australias first international commissaire," Mr. George Nelson.

So have fun rubbing it in to all the roadies out there that we can use tri spokes etc. I do. Although I don't use those wheels myself. The only non metal wheel I have is a Campag Disc (a real old one at that).

Thanks rick, that is a great relief to me, as i have just invested some money in these wheels and would be a little annoyed if they were only to be used in 2-3 races per yr (ie pursuits/TT's).
You have one very happy camper right here.
