Cool Advice on light XC/Road Setup needed!

Hey All,

The time has finally come for me to shed my dirt jumping and freeriding self (not completely!) and become leaner and meaner on the road. Only its the bike thats gonna get the weight loss and upgrade.

After getting a royal flogging in alley cats on friday night, i have decided the time has come to build a road/xc bike for couriering and leave my jumper where it belongs, on the dirt and 6 pack.

So what can you all recommend for me to get?

Basically this is what i am looking at building.

-A Road/XC frame, light, big and strong enough that i could take it trail riding. (Maybe disc mount)
-Light wheelset, not indestructable, but that can take some abuse.
-Clipless pedals and shoes
-Handle bars, gonna be using it mostly just for couriering, so wat do u reckon? Racing Handlebars, XC, aero kind ones??
-Decent v-brakes
-Rigid forks

And i dont wanna be paying a ****eload of dosh for this puppy either, 1-2k to get it set up nicely, the cheaper the better though.

Cheers,

Ken
