Default OT: Headset Walkie Talkies (recommendations requested)

My wife and I want to buy a pair so she can continue to nag me while I'm not close enough to hear
her, when we ride. Does anyone in this group have any experience with these things? (that would be
the walkie talkies... not the nagging wife!) ;-)

I'm sure I'll bre corrected if I'[m wrong, but the consensus in this group is that those things are
Bad. Not being able to hear what's going on around you can be dangerous.

Please feel free to use this to your advantage ;-))

I've used two different types, my cell phone (headset attached) and a Motorola (don't recall
the model #) Talkabouts. Here's the problem, if the trail is very hilly or twisty, you'll
constantly loose the connection. And if it's fairly straight, well, that's when you really
don't need to use it.

So, in my opinion, they suck... just like your wife, and nobody should have to endure performance
like that!

Sorry, that should've read "lose." Dang it, I was thinking of your wife again.

are you serious? I hope not. You might carry talkabouts for when you stop and are separated, but
headsets? Tell to enjoy the ride and not be a nag. Or send her out with the girls on bikes.

The walkie-talkies I've seen have been the "clip-on-to-the-Camelbak-strap" type; no
headphones involved.

I've never really seen the need for 'em, but FWIW most people I've noticed using them were
married couples.

Which, of course, begs the question: if a man makes a mistake in the woods but there's no woman
around to criticize him, does it really count?

I was due to make a mistake pretty soon; my 40's are almost over!

I had to break my wife of this after we were first married. I'd make some mistake, one that was
self-evident, and she'd be on me (never having done that while we were dating.) Well, I started
making comments about how men really do marry their mothers, and after a few times, she got the
picture. Now, I'm nearly nag-free!

She still bitches every now and again about the toilet seat, but I remind her that the hinge works
in both directions. That having been said, I accept the rationale that the commode looks better when
the seat and lid are down. But if I forget to close the thing up, the world isn't going to end.
