Smile Solvang Prelude

Anyone know where I can get a map of the Solvang Prelude beforehand? I just did the Rosarito-Ensenada 50 mile fun ride but I heard this ride is harder. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear it!!!! Thanks in advance!!

My understanding is that Both Solvang and Lompoc are word jumble names and no one has yet been able to unscramble them!

Every time I drive down to Capitola (I always tell the wife "Capitola, east of Java") seeing the Lompoc-Solvang sign gets my mind all in a tizzy... :P

NO.......the Solvang Prelude is the easier & much safer ride simply because you're not trying to constantly dodge and move around thousands of slower riders in front of you......especially on the hills. The Prelude ride does not have that crazy mass start.

so how are the hills on this ride? does this ride take some of the back highways in the area? I'm trying to get myself ready for it but don't really know what to expect.

Maybe half a dozen or so short climbs......nothing major. It's an easy to moderate ride.

Okay. It doesn't sound that bad. I'm going to take is that you know the area in southern cali, moreso, santa barbara and ventura counties... where would be good places to train for this ride?

If you ride regulary, including some hills, there is really no reason to 'train' for this ride specifically. You'll do just fine..... But do train for the Solvang Century.

I do ride regularly but I'm just getting into doing rides like these and the Rosarito ride from what I was told is more relaxed than this one. In any case, thanks for the help!

I'd like to do one of the Solvang Prelude rides, and I'm trying to choose which one. How would you compare the 50 mile and Metric routes from the Prelude to the Metric route in the People Powered Ride? (PPR profile and route slip: http://www.goletabike.org/PPR2003_routes.html)

Thanks!
