Recently, unbelievable deals have been popping up on Ebay on new, high-end bicycles (Merlin Cielos, Trek 5900, etc). But these are most likely scams, so beware. Don't let wishful thinking get the better of you. And if you spot one of these, report it to Ebay. The more complaints they get, the more attention they will divert to this matter.

Another red flag is a contact email address posted in the auction, ususally with something like "use this address, because my regular email is down". That's a hijacked account.
Similar scams are being run on all sorts of high ticket items, I've seen them with high end digital cameras and laptops. These scams are usually run from overseas, and usually are auctions where you must get the seller's approval before bidding. That's when they start the sob story about why payment method may be a little strange... |
