Default 'Getting Started' Repair FAQ

I am new (returning) to biking. Please post links to quality FAQs and informative sites for rebuilding or restoring a bicycle. For my needs, I have a street bike and would like to learn more about the parts available and how to replace some of the older parts with newer hardware, like new rims, gear shifts, brakes, etc.
