Lightbulb Around Lower Michigan

Is there anyone here that has ever ventured around the perimeter of lower Michgan or parts of it. I am familiar with the east coast, but not the west coast. Any information would be helpful. I am working on a trip for 2004.

There is a book on touring around Lake Michigan.
Three Rivers, MI has a cycling museum and cycling maps around that area. Apple Cider Century is in that section of SW MI.

I have ridden around Traverse City, Petosky, and the Leelanau quite a bit. The Cherry Capital Cycling Club, Traverse City. publishes a good ride map of that general area. They also sponsor two fine rides a year: Ride Around Torch Lake, and Leelanau Fall Ramble.CYCLING TOURING MAP
The Bicycling Map of Grand Traverse Region of Michigan, new 2nd edition, 1991, is a popular project of the club. It contains routes and recommendations of the entire northwestern part of lower Michigan, from Mackinaw City in Emmet County to Frankfort in Benzie County. Four color sheet. Textoprint (plasticized, water proof and wrinkle resistant paper), 7/16" to a mile. Shows many campgrounds and favorite restaurants. Day tours (15 - 105 miles) with brief descriptions. Through routes. Lists 6 Mountain Bike (off-road) Trails and riding areas. To order, send $6.00 (includes postage) to:

The only spot that I would not try again is around Muskegon.
