Is it possible to estimate power output given speed and distance? I'm just trying to figure my watts/kg. I went to the gym but their stationary bikes had no power meters
Yesterday I did a 10 mile TT in 27:30. If its no good please be kind because that was by far the most pain I ever felt on a bike ![]() I'm 15 years old and 62 kilos, height 5 foot 8. I dont know if any of that matters. I also need to know about my cadence. I am more comfortabe (and faster) at a cadence of 75-80 RPM, but I've heard that 90-95 is better (or more efficient). If I use lower gears my speed instantly drops and my heart rate increases, I also feel 'the burn' a lot more. Am I better off sticking with my current cadence or should I train with lower gears to increase my cadence? |

For power try here:
http://www.exploratorium.edu/cycling/aerodynamics1.html (scroll to the bottom) Doing a 10 in 27:30 is not bad for a start regardless of your age, for a 15 year old it is very good. However it is always easier on a stationairy bike. I assume that you were upright (easier breathing) and had no clipless pedals. Personally I did a 23:30 on a turbo trainer but have only ever managed a 28ish on the road. Re the cadence: just train out on the road at higher cadences and it will feel natural after a while. I used to do 70-80rpm but now do 80-90 most of the time after 3 or 4 months. Hope this helps.
