I just ordered a new Cervelo Soloist....same bike that Tyler Hamilton used to win Liege Bostogne Liege. It will be spec'd out with last years Dura Ace 9 speed(new) and a set of Dura Ace wheels. The sales guy said that I couldn't go wrong with either the Dura Ace wheels or the Mavic Ksyriums SL's....so I chose the Dura Ace set. All this for 3,500 US dollars. Should arrive next week. I will post a review when I get it and ride.
Would love to hear from anyone else riding a Soloist or the new Dura Ace wheel set. I would have included the new 2004 Dura Ace 10 speed...but that would have exceeded my 3,500 budget....so I just went with a new Dura Ace 9 speed group..a 2003 close out. I needed a bike for RR's, crits, and TT's...so the soloist does fit the bill. I want to train to become a Master's National champion(I'm 36) in the TT...so I need a bike that'll be great for TT's...although my budget will not allow for a dedicated time trial bike. Seems like the Soloist was perfect for me..because the seat post can be reversed to achieve a TT position...plus the bike has an Aero profile. Comments? |

Correction. Actually I wanted the Dura Ace wheel set..but had to choose the Ksyrium SL's because the Dura Ace wheel set was not compatible with my Dura Ace 9 speed. The new DA wheels are for the 2004 Dura Ace 10 speed group.

I was SOOOO close to a Soloist, but decided to go with my Pinarello just because I knew with my new son, the chances of entering enough different races competetively were slim, so I decided to focus on road. But I really like that bike.... |
