February 26, 2004 - Team Bikesport/Lifetime Fitness/AAVC has announced its roster for 2004. Based out of Ann Arbor and Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan, USA, the team will be racing throughout Michigan and the Midwest. 2004 has already been extremely busy, with the team quickly scoring its first win at the Schabobele Classic Road Race, Flagg Springs, KY, 2/21/2004. Additionally, the team also assisted Lifetime Fitness, a lead sponsor, to raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America during their 4-hour Valentines Day Indoor Cycling Marathon.
“In 2003 we were exclusively a team composed of USCF Category 3 racers,” says Team Director John Rigdon. “In 2004 a number of team members have upgraded, now we are fielding full USCF Category 2 and USCF Category 3 teams, as well as a USCF Juniors team. With the addition of some great new team members, as well as the support of our fantastic sponsors we’re looking for even more success in 2004. “ In 2004 one half of all team winnings will be donated to BACK ALLEY BIKES, a community bike repair and reuse center located in the Cass Avenue Corridor neighborhood of Detroit, MI, USA. BACK ALLEY BIKES is dedicated to assisting area residents to build and repair bicycles and providing two-wheeled transportation options to neighborhood youth.
