whats your suggestions for guiness extreme records?

Remember the difference between a Guinness record and a world record.
When a sport has an existing governing body that tracks such things,
Guinness generally looks to them for official data on records. We're
hoping they will eventually do this with the IUF for unicycling.

If there is *no* governing body keeping track of records, Guinness is
much less likely to mind accepting a record even if everyone believes
someone has done better. Naturally you have to weigh your desire to have
an absolute record against the desire for success on the show. But even
if you *establish* a record for something that was not previously
recognized, though someone may have already done it better, you have
helped by getting it into the database of Guinness.

For gliding, the *unofficial* record is 0.8 mile (distance). There is no
proof of this, just a car odometer (it was actually closer to 0.9), a
driver and a unicyclist. Try *that* in the studio! :)

tomsey's final thought: (like jerry's except genuine)

ok so it seems that i am getting 3 records registered into the guiness
book of records.

the first will be longest grind, this will be set at 16 stairs and ~4
metres in length, i know... it will be broken pretty easily and i
encourage it, so i can break it again next year.

secondly will be high jump, my PB is 92cm (its over a bar). its not
great but its not that far off unoffical records either. again if you
have the time try and break it if you know you can.

lastly highest drop, which im going for 10ft. the reason why not 12 like
originally claimed is because of equipment issues. i dont want to break
my unicycle from 12 ft and 12 feet is a guranteed height for bendages
and breakages.

i hope that people wont complain because they arent world records
(except 16 stairs). and i got really lucky in the sense that i can fast
track all the red tape surrounding the records by getting it on TV.

and its most importantly about getting unicycling into the
records......... isnt it?

The segment was shown on TV here in Brisbane tonight so I recorded,
burnt, ripped, edited, compressed it, etc.

For now I've only made one 15MB version available of the whole thing
because the whole process took hours and by now I've lost any
inclination I once had to do a higher res version. :)

Instead I just added a clip of each of the two records in a higher res
version.

Whole segment, 15MG, 7min - http://tinyurl.com/cdu32

Two clips, 5MB, 13sec - http://tinyurl.com/8xxmu

Congratulations Alex, it made a very entertaining segment.

I was channel surfing Between the news and what ever on an unpredictable
but usually boring Sunday night. Shhisss, I just missed the second last
jump, wow I couldn't believe it, there was Alex going for a record on
TV. I watched the last 2.5 jump. That was impressive!

hey guys,

thanks for the support. glad it was entertaining.

for the record, with this thread were my goals that are a little unmet
for the time being. as you might know, TV edits and recuts a lot of
stuff to make it look good.

on the day i tried the 3.0m (10ft) platform as well but my uni didnt
survive, neither did my ankle.
and also with the handrail i failed an attempt to land a 16 stair
handrail which i also tried that day.

it was a lot of fun. i cant believe i said "exhilerating" on TV (what
was i thinking?) but all in all, good publicity for unicycling.
