Trees grow by absorbing CO2, hence the amount of vegetable
matter automatically increases.

Eventually you have to crop the forest, and replace it by
new planting. The cycle re-commences.

What happens to the trees that you cut down? How much
methane is created when they decompose?

I consider 'animals' to be unnecessarily unspecific. I do
understand about the warm blood flowing through the large
four chambered heart maintaining the very high* metabolism
rate they have, though, which means they are members of the
class mammal which is a member(indirectly) of the animal
kingdom. However, it's considered rude to call people
animals except in a biological context.
