Just a quick note about two events at Herne Hill velodrome in SE London this weekend. Friends of Herne Hill Velodrome are having an Open Afternoon on Saturday 4th, 1-4pm There'll be a chance to borrow a track bike and ride the track. With full training for those who haven't ridden it before. 5 covers those costs if you want to ride the tracki, otherwise it is free. There'll also be roller racing and lots of information about plans to save and modernise the velodrome. This is the perfect opportunity to see and use the place, and get more involved if you want to. There's a feeder ride from Cutty Sark in Greenwich starting 11am. http://www.hernehillvelodrome.co.uk/ On Sunday 5th the Ride of the Falling Leaves starts/ends at Herne Hill. This is a deliberately tough hilly tour of the North Downs organised by Mosquito Bikes in aid of the Lavendar Trust cancer charity. 70 and 50 mile options. http://www.londoncyclesport.com/news...ng_leaves.html http://www.mosquito-bikes.co.uk/ (click events link) I'll be at Herne Hill on Saturday. Just look for the heap of crumpled bones at the bottom of the banking, as I've never ridden a track bike. Or look for the Orange P7. Might make the Sunday ride - if I get one of the Halfords banana bikes. |
