One year ago today I zeroed my speedo and aimed to crack 5000 miles for the year. Here is a photo of it this afternoon. Now I'll try and do 5500 or more this year. http://www.simonmason.karoo.net/zspeedo.htm Simon |

Are you sure your speedo is calibrated properly;-) On a serious note, I really like this idea and am going to do the same - around 100 miles a week is a very good and realistic goal. |

Are you sure your speedo is calibrated properly;-) More particularly, since your front wheel travels further than the back one (and therefore than almost all of the frame) is your speedo's sensor on the front forks and are you sure that you and the rest of the bike have done 5k yet? |

And if you insist on jumping over potholes and grids like me, have you allowed for the aerodynamic slowing of the wheel while it is off the ground? ;-) |

GPS works by position change which a) has errors in it especially at low speeds and b) because of sampling intervals approximates a curve with a series of straight lines creating an error in the distance travelled ;-) Tony -- "If you tell the truth you don't have to remember anything." What your computer is telling you is that it's ten to seven in the evening. Or maybe not. Congrats, sir. James -- "Sorry mate, I didn't see you" is not a satisfactory excuse. |

Golf ISTR. Seriously, well done, I'll be lucky to get 1800 this year, but its been a crap year with some motivational black holes. -- Steven |
