I don't know how it happened as I'm usually very careful when it comes to washing out my bottles. I seem to have accumulated a fine layer of green and black mould on the inside of my bottles, including the lid and mouthpiece section. Is there anything I could use to clean them thoroughly with and how do I prevent it from happening again? They had been sitting on the shelf for only about two months. Gadget |

Milton solution -- as used to clean baby's bottles. Baking soda -- as used to clean fridges. Either of the above combined with mechanical action (a bottle brush). Or, given the price of bottles, throw them away and buy some new ones!! Tony |

To stop it happening again, wash out bottles immediately you get home whenever anything other than clean water has been in them. Some people seem to favour storing the unused bottle/bladder in teh freezer, but it seems to me that it's probably better to keep it clean of things that go mouldy. regards, Ian SMith -- |\ /| no .sig |o o| |/ \| |

DRY them. Mould only grows in moisture. Stand bottles, with their tops off on radiators or the c/h boiler. Use a hair dryer to dry the insides of collapsible containers. When you've got 'em clean, store them with the caps off so you don't get any condensation inside. |
