Looking for a touring shoe that I could also use off the bike. The Carnac Carlit fits the bill, but I'm assuming these dont accept spd's. Can anyone confirm? I could of course just ask Carnac, but their pre-defined questions template is not very friendly. If the carlits are not spd compatible, suggestions of other similar styled shoes welcomed. I know there are quiet a few fabric based velcro closure alternatives available, but I'd prefer something styled along the lines of the carlit if possible. Thanks for any feedback. |

They are designed for use with old-fashioned toeclips & platform pedals. The three most expensive touring shoes on the Carnac website are described as having the UCS 6 sole, which accomodates the SPD cleat. All 3 shoes appear to have enough rocker built into the sole to make walking significant distances fairly comfortable. The Carlit and two other shoes are described as having "semelle marche", or walking sole. The absence of any reference to a cleat system on these three models, and the reference to a specific cleat system on 3 other touring shoes suggests very strongly that the Carlit will not accept SPD cleats. I have a pair of Carnac Ventoux, an older SPD compatible touring shoe no longer on the website. I've found them to be very comfortable on walks of up to 20 km, and very comfortable on the bike as well. I feel a bit silly walking around off the bike in Velcro closure cycling shoes, and the cleats are quite audible on anythig but a dirt surface, but the fit and quality of the shoe outweigh these drawbacks. -- mark |

If you're into SPD compatible cycling shoes that don't look like that, consider the Lake LX G2 (http://www.lakecycling.com/sport.html) -- Regards, Marten |

I love these: http://www.specialized.com/SBCEqProd...nged3i5.j27006 Hard-wearing and very practical. So comfortable I wear them all day at work (with cleats attached). Simon |

Guess I'll have to keep looking. Thanks. |
