You can get a bus from Glasgow to the Sligachan Inn, Skye and have a go at Sgurr nan Gillean. The bus also goes past a lot of other interesting summits - for example The Saddle and Sgurrr na Sgine in Glen Shiel. I think this bus is amazing. Imagine a bus going from > Manchester with a stop at the Old Dungeon Ghyll. There is a basic little campsite opposite of the Sligachan Hotel and a Youth Hostel in Glen Brittle (3 hour walk through the Bealach a'Mhaim, ideal for more Munros in the Black Cuillin) and a YH in Broadford (with busstop). Beware that you can't arrive in the UK (by boat or plane) and climb Sgurr nan Gillean on the same day. I can strongly recommend Sgurr nan Gillean, a beautifull peak with some exposed scrambling and a airy summit. Theo |
