I am not defending Bush in any way ....but if he hadn't visited he would have been classed as a non-caring SOB.
If he goes there he is 'Grandstanding".
No win situation for him at this point.
A docomertary film would be enlightening if it were done without prejudice by someone like the caliber of Charles Kurlat (deceased of course). I met him once in New Orleans,as chance would have it, a nice stand up guy, but there must be some good ones left that are not polarized one way or another.
Moore is not one of them.

The citizens of Louisiana know who compounded the problem of their hurricane - namely the Gov of George W Bush.

I agree on one point, I believe the residents know who needs to shoulder the blame.

Blanco declares state of emergency August 26.

Bush declares state of emergency August 27.

Blanco requests aid increase to $130M on August 28.

August 29 (the day Katrina hit): Blanco says she could not reach Bush or his chief of staff, and had to leave a message pleading for help with a low level adviser.

5 days? It would be difficult to order New Orleans to evacuate when Katrina was tropical storm still off the Atlantic coast of Florida ...

"Mayor Nagin issued a voluntary evacuation request late in the day on August 27 (Katrina was Category 3). He was hesitant to order a mandatory evacuation because of concerns about the city's liability for closing hotels and other businesses. On August 28, when Katrina became a Category 4 hurricane, Nagin declared a mandatory evacuation."
Please ... unreported news? That's what you call fact?

The problem is Nagin himself gets on the radio and blasts everyone but himself. Knowing the history of the levies and the potential danger, if he would have planned better, he would have been vindicated no matter the outcome.

Nagin is not a leader and that is the real problem here and for that matter neither is blanko…

BTW don’t believe everything you read in the paper so, you might want to put the paper down once in a while and check into reality there bro…

How could they have planned better ?
The budgets to secure the levees were cut at Federal level (not State level).
Louisiana requested federal help prior to the storm hitting and got little or no support/response at Federal level.
FEMA's budget was cut at Federal level which did not help the rescue operation.

Bush and his goverment didn't cause the hurricane.
That's about the only positive thing that one can say about the Bush involvement in the Lousiana disaster.

So, armed with this information if you are the (mayor/govenor) wouldn't you have gotten your people out of there??? Responsibillity starts with the first level of government not at the top there McFly....

Armed with the information that is available and documented, it appears that at federal level there was no support for Louisiana State.

But hey, Bush is never to blame for anything - right ?
