    Custom Wheel Builders

Since I am larger than normal and ride customs, I'm going to take offense. My weight issue is from being 6'7" and I do make good money. So how are you saving money (or sense) if you have to have to carry a large amount of spare wheels? Pre-built wheels have gone down the same...

    An interesting 1980's Paramount frame

Hello, I recently "won" this 1986 frame on ebay. What caught my attention were all the eyelets. At first I thought they may have been added on at a later time, but scouring the web, I did see a couple other Paramounts built this way--but just a couple. A serial number was provided...

    Custom Wheel Builders

To be honest it's good to know a custom wheel builder nearby to repair the factory-built wheels, which often arrive with twisted spokes and/or a not-so-true alignment. If some novice does the adjustments, it can make it worse.

    Custom Wheel Builders

Anyone in the SF Bay ARea should give Tahn Rehmer a call at WIllow Glen Bikes. He's an expert in all types of high-end wheels. I have had 2 sets built so far, 1 lightweight road, 1 heavy duty touring. Beautiful work and components that I didn't know exist until I met him. No hard sale either...

Leaky cycling shades with a deviated septum

I have a dumb question... My adventurous life has caused me to break my nose more than once, resulting in a bit of deviation. And because of it, speeds above 30mph cause air to leak through the glasses' nosepiece and cause one eye to water up...not good. Just wondering if anyone else whos...

    Volagi Bikes

What's your opinion on the discs vs. calipers? There's been a lot of debate about it.

How soon will disk brakes be used on road racing cycles?

Thats why I like BQ. They've angered quite a few manufacturers with honest reviews. I actually started to read them after reading an honest negative review about a VO crank. They only have a few ads, and the majority are business card-sized ads by custom frame builders and NOS parts suppliers...

How soon will disk brakes be used on road racing cycles?

A lot more scientific than posting a photo of someones butt. "Butt" anyways, I'm not going to go through their whole process since it is straying off-topic, but they ride before they test or measure, at least 2 people ride the bike, located in Seattle which is a good place to test a bike...

How soon will disk brakes be used on road racing cycles?

Bicycle Quarterly did a review of the adventure frame in their latest issue, and that's a magazine who's favorite bike ever is a 1952 Rene Herse, and the editor uses scientific methods when reviewing a new bike or frame. They didn't consider it a touring bike because of the lack of eyelets. He...

How soon will disk brakes be used on road racing cycles?

Calfee has a little bit of history with interesting new materials and designs that end up working well. But I think this bike isn't aimed so much to the beach cruiser crowd as it is the randonneur crowd, where a standard racing bike (and rider of it) would crumble apart a quarter ways into the...

How soon will disk brakes be used on road racing cycles?

had to bring this back up...... Just saw the new Calfee Adventure bike reviewed in the latest Bicycle Quarterly. Visiting their site, they have a disc brake model. Bicycle Quarterly, which normally doesn't like anything that isn't a 1952 Rene Herse, gave it great reviews for long...

Can I swap my 105 calipers with Veloce?

Got it. My first time with a Campy gruppo. It'll be best to leave these brakes with the rest of the set. Thanks for the clarification!

Can I swap my 105 calipers with Veloce?

Thank you for your replies. On weekends I ride hill and mountain roads that are in 'rustic' condition, so I use a fairly wide tire. Are Campagnolo brakes released in a different way? I ride bike paths and expressway for my commute, so that bike has a thinner tire.

Can I swap my 105 calipers with Veloce?

Hi there, I am building up a "fast commuter" bike which I am outfitting with Campagnolo Veloce that I got for a great deal. My favorite bike has 105 calipers and levers. I am curious if I can swap the 105's with the Veloce's because they are very nice-looking calipers that would look...
