Since I original started this thread on August 10th, I have put another 466 miles on this particular bike according to my notes. Weather here on the Great Lakes is colder now with lots of precipitation lately, but last year I was able to keep...

      Thank you so much!

You need very little other than a bicycle. This morning as the sun was coming up I jumped onto my bicycle and did a fast 33 miles. I had no cycling specific equipment other than the bicycle and a messenger bag I sling over my shoulder to carry an...

Went for a brisk 2-hour ride yesterday and it felt good as I was not able to ride for three days after pulling a muscle in my back. Still a bit sore but the ride did not affect it at all. The Huffy felt great.

Looking at your photos there is nothing unusual about your riding position, I don't think it should be hurting your back, so I am guessing you may have a back problem. Better photos might help. Here is a photo someone took of me on my favorite...

You would be wrong again. The most expensive bike I ever owned, a high-end Santa Cruz Heckler was taken out of my garage in broad daylight. My take on it is that those who the society I am part of does not provide for, can not be faulted for...

comebackkid replied to the thread Ftp (full time power).
I don't have any way of measuring watts, but I like the zone 1, 2 and 3 idea, where zone 1 is where you are riding and able to carry on normal relaxed conversation or singing, zone 2 is where you can only give short answers in conversation, and...

I would much rather hang out with rule-breakers, druggies, homeless and thieves than the homophobic, racist, close-minded, upper-class establishment shills that have no solution to the cracks in their society than calling the police.

comebackkid replied to the thread Posterior comfort.
I am sorry nobody replied to your thread, weird. Anyway, my best take on posterior comfort is that the more you ride and toughen up your posterior, the more comfortable you will be. With little muscle mass on your butt and/or no tone in what is...

comebackkid replied to the thread My low-dollar hot-rod.
This Schwinn SuperSport was originally found for $10, but then the new Specialized tires cost at least four times that much. I can not remember what the cranks, pedals and rear derailleur cost back in the 1990s. I had given the cranks to a friend...

My take on it is that people who are out of shape do not want to do anything in hot weather, not on an E-bike, on their feet or sitting in a chair. If you are in shape you will take the heat better and it will be why on very hot or humid days you...

comebackkid replied to the thread presta schrader.
I have drilled out presta rims to take Schrader valves before using a hand-drill then some careful deburring of the hole, but the rim of course has to be wide enough to take that modification without being damaged. If the rim is so narrow that...

comebackkid replied to the thread Unstable cycling.
I agree with those who say with time spent riding your technique will improve, and this is because it is my experience. I did not ride a lot on the road for a number of years once and when I got back onto a road bike I was not impressed with my...

Lack of current experience is a far more likely reason than anything to do with the gears.
