    PowerBeam Pro and 705

That should work. I use my 705 to record data from indoor training on my Powerbeam and it picks it up as a powermeter (you need to do a new search as you would when picking up a new Powertap wheel or other device). Then I guess if you keep the Garmin cadence/speed sensor as your default option...

    Ergo trainer users

Can users of Computrainers or similar give me their opinions on training with the ergo function? How useful is it to set at say 320w for an hour and just ride away without having to keep glancing at a CPU and adjust your wattage? I like the sound of this as well as the option of not having to...

    Threshold work on rollers

I ended up getting the cycleops alu rollers with resistance attachment. tried them once and it was comical until i hit my nuts on the stem in a wobbly moment. am looking forward to training on them properly once i have the hang of it. turbo training is fine but cumbersome with the tyre changes...

    Mathematicians please

Thanks, Andy's answer is the one I'm looking for, i.e. the relatively simple one. It's to determine the size of the rollers I need for my purchase. Kreitler's website gives a wattage and speed charge with typical power outputs for a rider slightly heavier than me and with fatter tyres...

    Mathematicians please

If a 160lb rider on 700x25c tyres at 110psi needs to put out 219w to achieve 24mph on rollers, will a 150-152lb rider on 700x23c tyres require more or less watts at the same speed, if so how much? Sorry I was a linguist at school and a disaster at maths.

    Threshold work on rollers

Ah, but aren't these all skills that we as riders should learn to make us more assured, smoother when under duress in races, etc?

    Threshold work on rollers

Thanks for the link and the advice. I have seen those rollers and they look great but I also need something very portable. Think I'll look at the cycleops ones. I like the idea of improving pedal stroke and also the inherent danger a lapse of concentration would entail

    Threshold work on rollers

I have a question for the gurus here. Is it possible to do decent threshold work on rollers? I currently have a Kurt Kinetic pro stationary trainer, great piece of kit, but I find that I hate having to use it because it involves a rear wheel tyre change and lots of other fuss... my time is kinda...

    Garmin Edge 705 & Powermeter

In ersponse to the above question, I am a journalist and received a 705 to evaluate. When Garmin eventually asked for the unit back I asked if they'd sell it to me - which they did for a modest price - and I have updated to ANT+. A few little teething problems along the way but I am happy overall.

    Garmin Edge 705 & Powermeter

And in a further update (IYCBA to read this or are using an updater), I am currently struggling with a failing update for my race wheelset. Anyone else had an updater problem? The Garmin/PT combo I have been running is a hub that's been lent to me longterm and is already ANT+, the one I'm...

    Garmin Edge 705 & Powermeter

Thanks for the responses so far. I have had a look at the wattage group and a lot of the info there is useful but I find it hard to navigate and search topics there - i am a google groups newbiw, though. Anyway, in case anyone is interested I now have three rides under my belt with the...

    Garmin Edge 705 & Powermeter

Hi, I've had a search and can't find a topic devoted to this subject here so I thought I'd start one. Anyone using an Edge for their training with a powermeter? Is it reliable? Any gremlins you've discovered and how to work around them? I myself am a PT SL2.4 user and I have acquired an Edge...

Help - powertap problem makes me want to smoke crack

Yeah, still having probs. Have been through three new sets of silver oxides, from different retailers and different but reputable brands, although I thought the suggestion of a 'stale' set of batteries might've been a nice theory. I am now just resigned to sending the flipping thing back to the...
