Stiffer Wheel? or More PSI Tire?

I ran the Conti at 120psi and the Vittoria at 115psi. I like to run 25's with 23's, as 25 on the front and back, while uber-comfortable, tend to be slower.

Stiffer Wheel? or More PSI Tire?

Experiment! I am a 220Ib rider, non-racer who likes to experiment on my rides. Just yesterday, I rode a Continental 700x25 GP4000 in the rear and a 700x23 Vittoria Evo Open Corsa in the front. The ride was excellent comfortable-wise, but a tad slow. I am always mixing up my tires and looking...

What to do when in-between frame sizes?

I am 5' 10" and ride a 55cm Lemond Buenos Aires. My cycling inseam is 34inches, which is rather long for my height. The only way I've been able to fit on a frame, without excessive saddle-to-bar drop is to go with a size 55cm coupled with a 90mm stem. The fit has been perfect. I ride 150miles...

    Which Makes A Better Cyclist?

I am a recreational cyclist looking to lose maybe about 15Ibs and get faster. Which training regiment is better? Riding 70miles on Saturdays and Sundays for a total of 140miles/week, as I currently do; Or, should I ride 30miles a day, five days a week? Opinions? Thanks, Super

    White Industries H2 hubs ?

If one wants to build a custom Zipp 404 Clydesdale wheelset with Sapim spokes, but looking for exceptional hubs to build with, what difference would there be between the White Industries H2s or DT Swiss 240s? Which of the two hubs would you recommend, and why? The wheelset is to be used...

    Severe leg cramping

ENDUROLYTES! ENDUROLYTES! ENDUROLYTES! It is made by Hammer Nutrition. The thing works very well. I take one at the onset of cramps in my legs, and before you know it, the cramp has disappeared. I sometimes break the capsule and swallow the powder directly, and I am good to go. Try it...

    Aluminum-Steel-Brass Corrosion

Hello All, I bought a Mavic Open Pro-Alloy Nipple-Steel Spoked wheelset from a guy at a very good price. My issue is that I live close to the sea, hence my concern about preventative maintenance. What I'll like to know is where exactly should I lube/oil to prevent corrosion on the wheelset...

    Help With Stem Angle

Thanks Fujiman. It does help. What happened is that the Bontrager 90mm, 17-degree stem I have right now creaks. I have decided to change it to a Thomson X2 stem. My dilemma was whether to go with a 100mm, 10-degree stem, or a 90mm, 10-degree one. My goal is to get a little bit lower without...

    Help With Stem Angle

Hello All, I am trying to change the Bontrager stem on my bike from a size 90mm length and 17degree rise to a Thomson X2, 10degree stem. I am terrible at Trigonometry. Could somebody give me an idea of what size stem, i.e. length and rise that could get me as close as possibble to my...

    Custom Built Rim Recommendations

I still think you should look at Mavic CXP-33 rims, laced to Ultegra hubs with DT Swiss double-butted spokes. That is my definition of bomb-proof wheels. Super

    Custom Built Rim Recommendations

I think Mavic CXP33 rims are much stronger than Open Pros. That is the rim I'll consider, if I were you. Ultegra hubs, laced to the rim with DT Swiss double-butted spokes are more than sufficient, if you want strength, reliability and ease of maintenance. Super.

    Cleaning cassette.....

There is absolutely no need to lube your freehub splines. The only place grease goes on my cassette is the lockring, and only a thin film at that. The chain getting lubed with your choice of lubricant (not grease) is all that is needed. I repeat, Do Not Grease Your Freehub Splines...
