    Helmets With Internal "Bug Nets"?

After looking at all the European helmets that have bug-nets (listed above) and better fit systems than Bell, Giro, and most of the other common brands, I don't understand why bike shops like Nashbar, Performance, SuperGo, etc., only carry the brands without the bug sheilds and the poor fit for...

    Helmets With Internal "Bug Nets"?

I did some research on this last night and found that quite a few manufacturers actually make helmets with 'bug screens' in them: LAS Rudy Project Shain Spiuk Uvex So far, I think the Shain helmet might be the one I buy. Apparently the bug screen in the front vents is actually made of...

    Helmets With Internal "Bug Nets"?

On nearly every ride I've gone on this summer, some kind of bug has managed to fly into my helmet and drive me nuts. Yesterday, it was a big, fat yellow bumble-bee that got stuck as I was half-way up a hill with a car following me  Are there any helmets out there that have internal...

    Camelpack or water bottles?

For road riding, I use bottles... I just don't like the idea of a heavy bag of water on my back on the road, especially when it's hot  For mountain biking, I use a Camelback for a few reasons: Water bottles get caked with dirt and mud, the Camelback doesn't The Camelback gives me places...

A new jersey idea for roadies who...

Hehe... thought about that! The way I figure it, if someone wants to steel the idea and start making some nice shirts, that would save me a lot of time and money :D I should hope that if someone took my idea, they'd at least be nice enough to give me a few jerseys ;)

A new jersey idea for roadies who...

The idea of creating such a device also entered into my mind on multiple occasions, it actually doesn't surprise me that someone has already done it ;) I'd have to put something sharp on the end, so if a car hits it, it leaves a nice *reminder* (I say this, and I am a car enthusiast...

A new jersey idea for roadies who...

... are sick of drivers nearly running us off the road!!! After a dump-truck passed me on a hill yesterday, and it's trailer came within inches of taking-me-out, I spent pretty much the rest of my ride thinking of ways I could get the message across that it's the law that motorists give...

My favorite affordable, quality shorts are ???

I hear that! I've owned expensive shorts before and I personally think they don't last longer, they just cost more. Granted, the fit-n-finish on a $100+ pair of shorts is certainly going to be much nicer than that of a $30 pair, but there seems to be a happy "middle ground" in there somewhere...

My favorite affordable, quality shorts are ???

I've needed some new riding shorts for quite some time now, but it seems like most shorts are pushing $50+ each, which means that buying shorts is actually quite an expensive ordeal... especially if you want to buy a few pairs. I typically perfer simple black, 8-panel lycra shorts, but my local...

    Saddleco Flow review?

Well, looks like I can be the first one to join the "tried it and don't like it" club :( I got my Flow seat on Friday from PerformanceBike.com and was really excited to test-drive it on Saturday. My first thought, even before I got the seat on the bike was, "dang, this mesh isn't very...

    Saddleco Flow review?

Oh great, now my credit card just came flying out of my wallet and I ordered one... it's all your fault! :p I should have it next week to *make sure you aren't lying to us* :D Besides, I need the SaddleCo saddle to go with my Hermann Miller Aeron chair...

    Saddleco Flow review?

JohnNeugent, What is the 'life expectancy' of your new Flow saddles? I.e., are the expected to last forever, or will they lose their shape over a year or so and need replacing? Hard leather saddles seem to "get better with age", but the Flow saddle would seem to me like it may eventually...

    Saddleco Flow review?

With as humid as it's been here the past few days in the Midwest, I'd buy one of these saddles in a second if the seats are as comfortable as claimed... I'm sick of standing-up to "air-out-my bumm" because there is no ventilation in my saddle or my shorts

What makes one tire better than another?

I'm in the need for some new rubber, and there is a HUGE difference in the price ranges. I'm looking for 700x23c semi-slick to slick clincher road tires for training rides. Obviously, some tires weigh more than others which I'm sure is a concern, but what else is there to look for? I noticed...

    Saddle suggestions wanted (from roadies)

My current saddle is well over a year old and has a few thousand miles on it. It's yellow leather, and the yellow is wearing off in quite a few places... I'm assuming that means that it's either broken-in by now it will never be ;) You are definitely right though. A new saddle is rarely...
