    Cleats and commuting

I live in NYC, and I commute 10 mi a day and do another 10-20 miles after work. I currently use toe clips, but I bought a pair of SPD cleats. Is it safe and/or practical to use clipless pedals when commuting? Should I stick with toe clips?

    Are all cyclists wankers?

I live in NY, so my perception may be skewed, but are most "cyclists" wankers? I ride my bike becuase it affords me personal freedom, and an outlet for whatever stresss I may accumulate. I have no need to be the fastest man in the park, have the most expensive bike, or the perfectly coordinated...

average cost of a sturdy rear wheel

I am looking into getting a rear wheel with 36 spokes for increased durability. I spoke with my LBS and they gave me an estimate of $181 for a hand-built wheel with hub. Unfortunately, I cant remember the make, but is this a fair price for a good wheel for someone who rides about 50 mi a week...

    wheel rim problems

I took the bike out for a 15mi jaunt and afterwards, the wheel was almost as bad as before the tune up. I went out again tonite, and after 2 mi, I...

What are the advantages of thinner tires? I currently have a hybrid with 700x40c tires. I ride to work in NYC and I ride the central park circuit. Will thinner tires give me more speed? Are they more prone to flats. What width would you recommend? Thanks
