    Shaved or unshaved?

Hehe! I'm so glad you brought that up, I knew I didn't shave for a reason! Also that is one of my personal favorite facts, you just made my day. So does it carry that if I wear a fur vest while cycling I'll go faster? Also the psycological advantage would be huge, I mean I'd think twice...

    Shaved or unshaved?

Ok, can someone give me some quantitative evidence that hairless legs will make any difference in wind resistance? The road rash thing makes perfect sense though I have some trouble with the wind resistance. Certainly there is a theroretical decrease in drag, but measuarable? And speaking of...

    Shaved or unshaved?

Hehe, I don't shave my legs for the same reason I rarely shave my face:)

The best cycling tips in the world...ever!

The formula for attire I've used in hikeing, and long cycling, though not necessarily applicable to racing is: A wicking fabric next to the skin, a polypropalene shirt for example (wool wicks too but itches) followed by a soaking fabric, cotton being perfect. Depending on how cold it is the...

What is the weirdest bike you ever saw...

Agreed, I borrowed a friend's for a weekend once and it was actually a really nice ride exept comming to the base of a sloped rock face my front wheel hit the ground fairly gently but I went into an endo that I could do nothing about. I tried it again and realised that it had to do with the way...

    Your Longest Ride

"You are correct. Most Canadians do not think like me. If they did Canada would be a better, stronger country..." Memph [/B] What makes a Country stronger is not your kind of thinking. No group can be stronger if it's members spend their time antagonizing one another.

What is the weirdest bike you ever saw...

So I have this frame that has a front fork as seat stays. It is a little italian frame not a chopper of any kind. What I figure is that there are some really weird and fun frames and bikes out there and want to hear about the fantasy bike gear that people ride or have seen. Josh.

The cheapest good bike you ever bought...

I just thought of another super satisfying free ride! I'm from Victoria B.C. Canada, and we used to have a "Blue Bike" Program here. The deal was that there were a bunch of painted blue bikes in town that people could just ride. If you see one pick it up and ride to get to where you're going...

The cheapest good bike you ever bought...

The cheepest bike I ever rode for a long time was free. We got it playing a game call for bigger or better, start with a golf tee, knock on people's doors and ask if they would trade for some thing bigger or better than what you have. Eventually got a really old kuahara ten speed which I rode...

On which side do you mount?

I was made fun of by my riding partener just the other day due to the fact that when coming to a stop I unclip my left leg. She always unclips the right leg. When starting I always stand to the left and swing my right leg over, clip in and push of with the left. I'm very much right hand and...

    Looking for info on: Biemmezeta

I just bought a Biemmezta bike at an auction and have been enjoying it to no end. I have done a number of searches and haven't really come up with anything about Biemmezta bikes, and am curious about their history etc. Obviously Italien but I haven't found much in the way of reference to them...

    Are you a Cycling Dork?

On the topic of camel backs: though I don't currently own one, you can get a damn lot of slurpee in one of those bad boys. Nothing better on a smoking hot day than enjoying frozen stuff while thouse around you drink skunky water:) bit of a pain to wash out though. Oops I may have just branded...

Thanks some more! I'm in victoria BC right on the tip of Vancouver island where we have some gorgeous ocean side rides. In addition to the views you get the great twisty, supper hilly roads (the fun down hill, and inevitable uphill) so I'm getting lots of oportunity to try stuff out and feel my...

    Don't buy Tupperware!

I think that every driver's test/training program should force people to be cyclists for the day to just be aware of the **** drivers dish out to cyclists. I have changed my driving style so much since I started commuting daily on my bike. I think I may have improved my road awareness...

    Advantages of cycling to work

I should start to tally the number of near misses I've had on my rides to and from work. Today was three, two people pulling through stop signs not looking and one cut off and stopp right infront of me. But I wouldn't trade up that ride for the comfort of my car:)

Thanks, for the tips. As far as standing to climb is it preferable to stay in the saddle as long a possible or to get up?

Hello, great place this, just checked it out! Anyway, Just starting to get more serious riding and am becoming a road convertie. I'm wondering about the most efficient timeing of a shift before a hill, how far to shift, best ways of climbing etc. All stuff I will probably figure out anyway...
