What are your major differances between training and riding for fun?

When you say you are only 19 years out from 80 ----- OUCH! I'm only 22 years out from 80. Hopefully I will be riding a lot more then. I should be retired with lots of time on my hands!

    Is road cycling dangerous?

Pretty much every activity in life has a potential element of danger. Even a flu shot could result in a disaster! But you can exponentially reduce your risks by riding defensively and picking routes with minimum traffic. I recommend you consider a rear view mirror. OK -- they are not...

What are your major differances between training and riding for fun?

For decades I rode to improve. This year (and perhaps all future years) I am riding to have fun. These are some of my favorite "differences" between training and joy riding. I no longer get into an aero position when riding down hills. In fact, I sit upright and allow the wind to blow...

Where are you from, what do you do?

I am from a tiny, rural town in PA, USA called Newville. It is close to the center of the state, about 30 miles south of Harrisburg (nearest large city). Newville and the surrounding areas are heavily populated with Amish and Mennonites, so seeing folks on bikes is very common. For the past...

    Wax chain lubricant

For years, I used to use a commercial wax infused with teflon. It was sold in tins (similar to double size can of tuna). You would melt this wax over a double boiler and then soak your cleaned chain into the melted wax. It worked great. I have not seen that wax for sale for quite a few years...
