Getting My Two Bicycles To Fit In Sync

Same saddle and seat post on both bikes. Good thought. I will try that, but will not be able to do it until January, as one bike is in NY and the other is in KS :)

Getting My Two Bicycles To Fit In Sync

Thanks for the reply. I had thought about spacers and moving the seat. The latter could cause all sorts of problems with legs and knees. So, I removed one spacer. The Litespeed felt too low (1 spacer???). I put it back and realized something. Going from the Lynskey to the Litespeed does not...

Getting My Two Bicycles To Fit In Sync

I have a Litespeed Tuscany and a Lynskey R230. The Lynskey fits better as it feels like a little more reach. The Litespeed feels a little too upright. However, when I measure seat nose to the outside top of the hood, or to the middle of the hood, the Litespeed is only 1/2" or 1.25cm shorter...

Shimano SPD pedal release tightens when riding

Thanks for the reply, Andrew. Yesterday we rode for three hours and her pedals released fine multiple times. I guess the lube did it. I will check her cleats, nevertheless. Your reaction was the same as mine. How could they tighten up 'automatically' Glenn

Shimano SPD pedal release tightens when riding

During our last ride, my wife complained that her left pedal release was too hard to snap out of. I tried her bike and agreed. I adjusted the release so it was easier. She said over the next 15 miles it tightened up again. I lubed it and it seemed okay. Anything else to do? Thanks...

What Do You Do After The Accident?

There has been a rash of broken bones, fractures and two deaths on Long Island, NY due to cycling accidents this year. As a result of this, plus my wife's bicycle accident and the Gina Kolata article in the NY Times in late November I started a poll about What Do You Do After The Accident...

    Cyclometer & Cable Questions

I reset the cyclometer on both bikes based on actual wheel distance. I will test ride this weekend. I am still a bit leery about playing with the stop limits, so will hold on that. However, in the past, by rotating the barrel I would get back my micro shift adjustment. That seemed to work, so...

    Cyclometer & Cable Questions

Thanks...you are correct about the tires. Hers are 650 and mine are 700. Regarding the limit screws...I understand what you are saying. However, if the relax the cable with the barrel adjuster, what DOES that do? Glenn

    Cyclometer & Cable Questions

I have two questions. 1... I just bought a new cyclometer. My wife and I used to be within a tenth of a mile in synch for any distance ride. Now, on a 35 mile ride we are 1 mile apart. Both cyclometers are properly configured for wheel size. Once I figure out the real mileage, I want to...

Best Gear for me to ride in needs constant attention

I have a Litespeed with 13-23 9 sp cassette on the rear and triple crank set in the front. The middle ring has 42 teeth. Problem: One of the best all around gears, for me is middle ring in the front and smallest ring in the back. It is not only just a good gear...but, since I downshift more...

    Calibrate Cateye cc-mc100w for 650cc x23 tire

******************** I do not see those options in the manaul. Here is the link http://www.cateye.com/en/pdfs/MC100Wv2ENG.pdf. However, I think you just answered the second part of my question... If I get the mm traveled in one revolution, is that what I set the cyclometer for?

    Calibrate Cateye cc-mc100w for 650cc x23 tire

I need to set a Cateye wireless cc-mc100w for a 650cc x 23 tire. The cateye manual does not list this option. Would anyone know what the setting is or know how to configure this by rolling the wheel one revolution and doing some math? Thanks, Glenn

    New Stem for Aegis Swift

I cannot find specs on the Aegis website...so I am assuming my wife's new Aegis Swift (woman's specific) has a carbon fork and tube for the stem to attach to. I need to reduce the number of spacers, because they are using up 2.25" and the recommended max is 1.5". I want to get her a Dimension...

    should gears rub

Spoke to another biking friend...tightened the cable with the barrel adjustment...and the problem went away. Yes, it was working fine, then did not work. Then we fooled with the adjustments. Also yes, this mechanic is no longer my mechanic. Thanks Everyone.

    should gears rub

Interesting replies. Yes, I can pedal, shift gears and adjust the trim simultaneously. The Bicycle is a 2002 or 2003 Fuji Team made from Scandium. It has worked fine until recently.

    should gears rub

To clarify a bit...the rear derailer Shimano Ultegra 9 gear. I understand the part about rub in EXTREME gears, but I am talking about the 5 lowest rear gears, while in the big ring in the front. I do trim, but it does not seem to work regularly.

    should gears rub

While having my gears adjusted, the bicycle mechanic doing the work said "It is normal for the lower (back) gears to cause the chain to rub while the chain is on the big ring. He was talking about 4 or 5 of the lower gears, not just the lowest. He said the same was true with the granny...
