    specialized VS. Trek

They both build from extremely cheap to extremely expensive high end bikes. Both are very good. You're really going to have to pay a lot of attention to what exactly you are looking for in a bike since they will have different characteristics depending on design.

XC racing! FS vs HT ?

Softails ride, feel and handle like hardtails for the most part. The aleviate small bumps and vibrations a bit but the travel is too little to be truly noticeable. Its more for someone who insists on riding hardtails but needs to take a bit of the edge off. The still hit hard on most normal...

XC racing! FS vs HT ?

The Super V is quite outdated by todays standards and is significantly more inneficient than most moder FS designs. If you are used to FS you should stick to that. A hardtail will beat the **** out of you until you get used to it. A lot of racers are now using FS exclusively since designs have...

modify my manitou black comp 80/100??

No you can't make it longer. There is a 100/120mm version of the Black comp but its different. It has longer stanction tubes and plunger shafts to make up for the extra length.

RacerX Ti Exogrid Vs SC Blur

The Blur is a smoother bike with more travel. The RX is a pretty standard race bike type. Its extremely efficient although both of them are. The racer X is a bit more nimble since it has considerably shorter chainstays and is overeal steeper as far as the tube angle are concerned making it a...

What is the order of the shimano Groups

It will fit somewhere between XT and LX pricewise, or so they claim but functionally its a different breed. Its kind of a mix of XT, XTR, and Saint for aggressive riding. Seems shimano is moving away from the traditional method of having refining similar parts as the group gets more expensive...

    Anybody run shimano airlines ?

I'm not sure if they even make it anymore but I remember couple of years back Jenson USA was closing out the Airlines kit for $360. Its initial value was something like $1600. I have no idea how well it worked.

    Suspension Seatposts

I gues they are ok if you really need some relief down there or while you get the hang of riding a hardtail. Eventually you should get used to riding without one. They can be kind of annoying because your saddle height changes when you sit on them.

    Rear shock with lockout upgrade

As far as I know Fox is the only one with a remote lockout option and they one of the most reliable too. All of my bikes have always had a lockout rear shock because thats what they come with but quite honestly unless you have a very lousy ineficient FS you will never bother to use it unless...

    pedal questions...help

You want toe clips but not clipless? Rat traps are far more dangerous than clipless pedals ans are also more difficult to deal with. Clipless pedals disengage with a sideway twist. Whenever you are in a tight spot or about to fall your natural instinct is to slide your foot sideways off the...

    College Budget race bike

Specialized and Giant are definately the way to go if you want performance at an unbeatable price. The stumpjumper is definately an excellent bike at a hard to beat price. Definately a raceable bike as well as the NRS. They are very reliable and both companies offer top warranty and service. For...

is it worth it to upgrade my mongoose

Upgrading parts could be the way to go if you want to upgrade without spending too much at a time BUT, this can bring other problems. Upgrading will probably need to be done in large chunks at a time. Drivetrain parts for example might require multiple parts at the same time for compatibility...

    Manitou Skareb Platinum SPV

In reality at races you'll see whatever they are sponsored to race with so thats not an indicator of whats really the best. Those racers will do well no matter what they ride. You'll see a lot of fox RLT's/F80X's, Skarebs, and SID's with remote lockout. Rock Shox will be also be introducing...

    SPECIALIZED & 8 inch rotors???!!!

It was in mountain bike action as well as their webpage if I remember correctly. I'm not sure if the model was the enduro or the big hit but it was one of those two for sure.

    All mine

http://weightweenies.starbike.com/listings/components.php?type=suspensionforks Thats more like it, 2.9+ lbs average with no remote. I can see from the pic it still seems to be missing parts of the knob. My WC weighed in at around 3.1 with the remote/cable, no bosses and cut steerer (not by...

    All mine

Uhm, sorry but thats bull. Either the scale is off or the fork has leaked all the oil but a SID WC weighs about 2.9-3.0 lbs WITHOUT the remote lockout or bosses installed. They are light but not as much as claimed.

    SPECIALIZED & 8 inch rotors???!!!

The recall you refer to was done by specialized in some enduro models. They had Fox front shocks with (203mm) 8" rotors. Fox said they would refuse to warranty any of those forks because they don't certify their forks for any rotor larger than 180mm. It has nothing to do with the dropouts and 8"...

    Manitou Skareb Platinum SPV

I've ridden the Minute which is the same except that its based on the stronger Black platform with a stregnthened crown. They are actually quite amazing forks. They don't require lockouts because the SPV damping filters most of the pedal bob the lockout is supposed to stop. The Fox terralogic...

I need an help about UST tubless

MYTH. Quite simply put its the only sealant that works almost foolproof. Other sealants are quite simply junk that almost never work. And I really mean almost never.
