I'm supposed to get 5 teeth removed by an DDS but it's considered oral surgery. I had the first
appt. for a consultation and exam, with around the head x-ray. The dentist suggested IV anesthisia
(?) is the least uncomfortable to the patient, during the removal, but I can also choose the Local
type where your awake. I never had any medical procedures like this, I'm concerned with the risks
that can go wrong during the surgery- the dentist mentioned a few, one being if a Nerve is messed
up- some teeth are on the bottom and there is a nerve canal in this area, he said so you may get a
"numbness" or "tingling" if that happens, I think he meant its permannant. I heard of a condition
(someone had spine surgery) that a Nerve damaged during their surgery, caused extreme Pain and is
not curable- they take Morphine and the like. Is that a risk with having teeth extracted? is that
the same condition the dentist was talking about? please clarify if you are familar with this, Thank
You very much.
