1/2 inch serviceable pedals?

Yeah I know not too many road riders use these today, but I have a set of
1/2 inch *x-mart* Union pedals, that look to be non-serviceable. And doing
some surfing at bikepartsusa, and a couple of other sites, I found some 1/2
inch pedals that *look* like they would be better and may be serviceable.
Does any one know about these pedals? I know some of them are not really
intended for road use i.e. more for bmx / mtb bikes.

Oh yeah, the Unions I have on the WF now have some serious play in them and
feel like they have only a short amount of life left in them, like maybe
another 400 to 500 miles. So they need to be replaced. I would like to put
some better pedals on this thing. I have a 3 piece crank I was thinking
about upgrading to if decent pedals can't be had.

well, chosing a nylon screw at hardware then matching the screw to a
specific drill size (or 2)
carefully drilling into the cap and sssllloowwwwlyy inthe last grind
thru leaving the metal twists attached if possible
flush and spin the unit with 5w
or PCB and let sit then rinse with 5w
dry in hot sun
fill with 70W trans oil
and cut screw to fit and thread but not butt into
screw and ride.

actually, i empathize as i restored one pedal for a "free spirit"
intending to use the pedal as a spare for my raleigh but it's a size
smaller with the same wrench od.

the deal is you can flea market a 1/2" pedal that's actually unused but
very old and using this method recondition the set.
but don't "fill" the pedal- two tablespoons, turn pedal, and allow to
run down to the inboard bearings
then let sit in sun for 2-3 days. the trans oil has a tendency to dry
and gum greaselike.
watch your step on the rug-the inexpensive gear oil stinks.
