I am interested in my first road bike. I see this one on craigslist, and It seems cheap enough to start on. I just don't know if it is worth it. Can anyone help me out? I don't want to be scammed. It is a 1980 Trek road bike. The date makes me think its meant for looking more than riding. Here is the link

thats a good looking bike but thats a bunch of bucks for a bike that old. my mama told me you better SHOP AROUND!!

hey, Shop Around was a record done by the Miracles from detroit mich igan in 1960. it went to #2. i always relate music to bike riding. when you do get your new bike put on a pair of headphones and crank it up. youll be surprised on the amount of new energy it will give you and leave others in the dust. happy riding.!!

That bike frame looks to be refinished. I still have a 1980s Trek that I rode in the 80s. I think it is a 460 and still has the decals on it. I don't think mine is worth $600. Chromoly indestructable frame but that one also has the old downtube shifters like mine. Would look good on a wall otherwise I would look for something with more modern, user friendly components for the same price.
