Can someone help educate me? This is an area that I just don't understand that well.

Can I use my 1992/93 Shimano 8spd Ultegra cassette (currently on my 1992/93 Shimano Ultegra hub) on my 2003 Shimano Ultegra hub?

I have a 1992/93 Shimano mix on my road bike and 2003 Dura Ace/Ultegra mix on my triathlon bike. I'd like to buy a pair of race wheels that I could use on both bikes with a minimum of fuss. The cheapest option for me would be to swap between the 1992/93 cassette and a 2003 cassette.

Any opinions?

Thanks.

yes you can. i have used an early 90's (1990-92 range) 8-speed cassette on a 2003 Dura Ace freehub.

i found that the space from the last cog to the "axle nuts" (the things contacting the drop-outs) was slightly off vs. the 8-speed freehub so some minor derailleur adjustments were in order.
