2003 Santa Cruz Heckler: Shock Specifications

I'm building up an '03 Heckler frame and looking for a shock. When I
check the application data at 5th Element (Progressive Suspension) for
this frame, they say the eye-to-eye length is 7.875 and the stroke is
2.5 inches. When I check Fox racing shocks, they say the length is
7.875 but the stroke is 2.0 inches. I guess I can be comfortable with
the 7.875 length dimension.

I want to get the full 5 inches of travel for which this frame was
designed. If I take a quick measure from the pivot point on the frame
to the shock mount and then take a similar measurement to the rear
axle, I find that the ratio of these 2 dimensions is about 2.3:1. This
would suggest that I need about 2.2 inches of travel in the shock to
get 5 at the axle.

Can anyone tell me 1) the true OEM specification for shock travel,
and/or 2)if there is an interference problem in running a shock with a
2.5 inch stroke?

Thanks!
