I like how the UCI insists on calling everything the "UCI xxxxxx". It's sort of like Donald Trump putting him name on everything.

Yeah...Since they can sell the event naming rights for millions$$ usually, they obviously either want the millions$$ in publicity, or they don't need the cash, or there aren't any sponsors left after there little tiff with ASO.

Here is a big surprise: The AIOCC is protesting the schedule. Once again the UCI forgets to talk with race organizers before deciding on changes. Did that moron McQuaid not learn a single thing during the dispute with the GTs?

Here's the rap...The world of professional cycling is teetering on the edge of a cliff and instead of everyone getting together for the sake of the sport, everyone continues to attack each other, naively hoping that their opponent will be killed, and they will become new King of the Cycling Lands.

Human history just keeps repeating and repeating. "All for one (us) and fark the All"!!!

Crankyfeet is cranky:mad: .....way beyond cynicism.

Well, it has officially started, here it is from the cyclingnews website:

    AIOCC: UCI's 2008 calendar "unacceptable"

The AIOCC (association of race organisers) proclaimed the UCI's calendar modifications for 2008 to be "unacceptable" according to a press release issued Saturday following a meeting Friday of the AIOCC's Management Committee in Stuttgart.

The AIOCC pointed especially to the new hierarchy of races. "This calendar denies the historical rights of the 'monuments' of cycling and does not bring any solution to the difficulties of the other races which as a result are devalued. The AIOCC is turning to the National Federations so that they will intervene with the UCI to encourage the restoration of a single calendar and comprehensible rules of participation by all to reflect the world's cycling heritage."

it sounds as if the AIOCC wants a unified series, maybe something like a Protour  . Another lost opportuhnity by the UCI, now we will have at least another year of turmoil until is sorted.

Actually, AIOCC is complaining that, in the name of globalising cycling and making sure that all continents have ProTour races, we are destroying the importance of a good number of 'semi-classics'.
