Vuelta a España Stage 20: Toledo - Toledo (ITT), 27.8km

In 2008, the city of Toledo became fully involved with cycling and with the Vuelta. The good memories of last year’s experience will be re-lived this year, although the course will be different. On this occasion, Toledo will host both the start and the finish of the Vuelta´s penultimate stage. Instead of 2008’s bunch sprint, however, the riders will face a 28 kilometre individual time trial.

The route of this stage, which takes place on Saturday 19th September and includes a significant short climb, is basically flat and is suitable for specialists. Taking place just 24 hours before the end of the race, the Toledo time-trial will be the last opportunity for the main riders to secure a place on the final podium and may even play a decisive role in defining the overall winner.

Previous editions: Toledo has hosted half a dozen stage starts and finishes. More specifically, the city has seen five starts and six finishes, in addition to the 2009 stage. The most recent of these, which has already been mentioned, took place in 2008, with victory going to Paolo Bettini.

given where evans has placed himself on the gc in relation to the time deficit with valverde, how'd you like to be the shimano neutral service rep for the vuelta today?

That flat has proved to be very costly :mad:

that coupled with the penalty for the water bottle, i'm sure he's about to bite somebody's throat. it's almost otherworldly how bad his luck is. losing to contador after rasmussen had pulled contador up the mountains, then getting drummed by csc last year--a certainty you should bet against him at the craps table.

Evans was hoping to win the ITT so he could use the sword to cut someone's head off--whether they stepped on his dog or not.

This TTT showed that Valverde is ture loser and he is afraid of fair fight. GT win after stupid accident of his contender. I hope he'll lose the title in CAS.

He will, the result will be;

1 Samuel Sánchez (Spa) Euskaltel-Euskadi
2 Cadel Evans (Aus) Silence-Lotto
3 Ivan Basso (Ita) Liquigas

Cadel second again :rolleyes:
