I'm thinking of doing a little randonneuring on what you might call a 'Country Bike' and would like some input on tires.
At this point, I'm using Schwalbe 'Puncture Protection' - they're ok, but a little less puncture protected as one might be led to believe.
I am also, btw, using tire liners and Slime in the tubes.
The trip would most likely take place primarily on pavement, with the odd stretch of dirt mixed in.
If anyone has suggestions for better tires, please let me know.
And yes, I realize that tougher will probably also mean heavier......

not necessarily, materials like Kevlar don't add too much weight, they do add $$$ to your budget though. There are other materials that protect you also,

stay away from tires that are difficult to mount on your rims, like when your thumbs finish almost with scars, although some are difficult to install only the 1st. time, those are ok.
