Enough can't be said about bike fit not matter what bike. I recently bought a $3,300 Litespeed that was not fit properly at the shop. It has cost me $500 plus for a professional fit, seat, stem and adjustments as well as an injury both knees.

Go to see someone who really knows how to fit you then take this info and go shopping.

Personally, if I had $3000 to spend on a bike, it would be the LeMond Maillot Jaune, which lists for $2900. I would also check out the Litespeeds.

The Lemonds are very high quality, an excellent riding position, very forgiving frame, excellent components, and backed by Trek.
