  1. I did a 9 hr hike one day ago and my calves have that lactic acid
feeling but my run was pain free. I took it easy because there is no
point getting injured. recovery has to be upper most in my mind. My
lower legs did not feel sore or anything. no shin pain.

Coming down the mountain seems quite painful but I dont seem to have
    any injuries because of it.

my calves are still sore from the hike. really, i have done enough
hikes lately that there should be no calf soreness.

hopefully, i can do 60 minutes using galloway method and also run it
continuous. that would at be progress and a personal best. just to run
over 50 minutes continuous with no injury would show that I have
potential to be a runner and my injuries were due to bad advice from
doug freese and maybe my impatience.

  2. Keep in mind that the "lactic acid feeling" (muscle burning/fatigue) during
exercise is a world of difference from next day soreness.
Next day soreness is DOMS (delay onset muscle soreness), and comes from
micro-tears to the the cell walls of muscles.

Usually a good idea to try and anticipate this, so as to stop your exertion
prior to this point, or just get a twinge of it.
