Hello, I'm new to track - can someone please explain what "the standard track 42mm. chainline" entails.

Chainline refers to the distance from the center of the frame at the bottom bracket to the chainline or center of chainring. This measurement is taken to get the chainring and cog in perfect alignment. Tyical fixed gears with 120mm spacing at the rear axle have a 42mm chainline.
