I just put a new cable on my front Shimano 600 derailer and I can't get it to stay on the upper chain ring. It pops over smooth and quick but pops right back down when I let go of the lever. I checked the down tube shifter and it seems ok. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Rob O.
if the deraileur moves back and forth with the lever, sounds like the lever might be loose and not creating enough friction to hold the deraileur in place.
there should be a knob or screw holding the shifter on. try tightening that up a bit.
Thanks. I'll try that. By the way, does your icon "I'm with stupid" pointing up have anything to do with those of us who post "dumb" questions!!!??? 😎
