Hello, a friend of mine is offering me some new Sachs PC59 9spd chains at a discount. However my
racing and training bikes are equipped with an 8 speed Shimano HG70 cassette.

Could I use this chain with this cassette?

Thanks in advance.

It may work without a problem, but the 9 speed chains are narrower and may not work properly without
retrimming your front der. Personally, I would not buy them as replacements for use on a 8 speed
setup unless I was getting them for a substantially lower price than I would pay for the 8 speed
chain of choice. Since you don't need the narrow 9s chain, there is no reason whatsoever to pay a
premium for it, no matter what the street price for it may be.
