83 year old woman assaulted by cyclist - can anyone help with Police enquiries?

Saw this article yesterday - hope the 83 year old woman recovers from
the cowardly attack by the cyclist. Can anyone on this discussion
board assist Police by using their contacts in the Cyclist Community?
Would be most helpful to bring the culprit to justice.

Bike-riding man assaults elderly woman

An 83-year-old woman has been punched to the ground and sexually
assaulted by a bicycle-riding young man in regional Victoria.

Police say the woman was walking along a bike track in Kangaroo Flat,
near Bendigo, north-west of Melbourne, when the attack occurred about
4.45pm (AEST) Wednesday.
"She was approached by a young male on a bicycle (and) it appears the
woman was punched to the face before being sexually assaulted," Senior
Constable Julia-Ann Newman said.

"The woman's cries for help were heard by a passer-by who disturbed the
offender."
The offender, who rode away on his black BMX bike, is only described as
wearing a black helmet.

The woman was taken to Bendigo Base Hospital where she remains in a
stable condition.
Police have appealed for information on the crime.

Not a good story. However, talk about a long shot asking for help in here. Try the local mall... more chance of spotting a bogan BMX rider there than in here.

There won't be too many kids with black BMX's in Bendigo, couple of
dozen perhaps? Mr plod won't have to work too hard to catch this
clown.

And he was wearing a helmet, that'll seriously cut down on the suspects.

This is a bit like asking the inhabitants of aus.cars to use their contacts to catch an armed hold-up merchant because he uses a car to get away from the scene of the crime.
