I am considering to replace my front derailleur (old bent STX) on a 7-speed mostly STX system. It seems that the only available breed of decent quality FDs are 9-speed Mega (LX, XT). In installation instructions Shimano claims that the minimum difference between the large and middle ring is 12 teeth. Would it work with 42/22/22 STX crank where the difference is just 10?
