Noticed numerous threads sprouting up hydra-like, will there be an unofficial a.b TdF prattling on-about-sod-all-thread?

Oh look a moto gendarme has skidded into a ditch.

Hrmmm, who was that mystery cyclist on the other side of the canal about 20km ago?

That storm is looking unpleasant, hope the stage doesn't go through it.

Commuter vs the Tour... was a good effort!

My $ is on Boonen... but given that lightening/storm... maybe Thor? :)

Almost as good as watching last year's idiot spectator who got run
over by the camera bike.

I'm sorry, but all questions must be in the form of a question.

Although Cancellara looked ok on the podium. Hope nothing real nasty came out of that pile up.

tonight its nachos and some red grog I got cheap...

hopefully I'll be awake at Compiègne for the finis.

this morn. managed to drop off after the second sprint when the big guy told the little on off for having a go and not sharing the euros on the prime...good one!

wonder how the Gendarme is after he got his nice leather boots sodden in that mucky ditch? ...probably told by his boss to take his damp pride and be a midroad target waving a yellow pennant...merd!

which for no apparent reason became waffles.
10 minutes of the cake is survivable.

So, could someone explain what the go is with riders taking a slash by
the side of the road? I was watching it the other day and a heap of
them started angle parking by the side of the road, presumably to take
a leak. How do they get back to the peleton? Draft the camera bikes/
team cars? A few professional waterbottles? Would the top guys like
Robbie McEwen stop for a ****? Surely they couldn't make it back.

Also someone told me that if the yellow jersey stops for a ****
everyone has to stop too but that sounds like a complete crock of ****
to me. Though it does raise an interesting question, what if the
yellow jersey does need a leak, does he do it on the bike somehow? I
imagine that would make you popular with the riders immediately behind
you!

I think they call it a "natural break". There were quite a few last
night. I think it was due to the slow pace and possibly the riders were
a bit more hydrated than usual??

If lots of them do it at the same time, they can easily get back to the
peleton if it's not hammering.

That might be a reference to the unwritten rule in the mountains, that if
one of the leaders stops for a ****, anyone competing with him waits too -
I think Ullrich and Armstrong used to do that for each other, for example.
On the flat you have the option of being pushed along by your team while
taking a **** on the bike, so it doesn't happen there.

you know the feeling - when you just HAVE to stop for a "natural"... (and its worse if your bladder reacts to caffeine and cold, makes our winter riding a lot of fun...!)

they are meant to only stop for a "natural break" when bystanders are few or absent and no close "meedya" presence, (so then the moto cameras start filming cows and haystacks)
... normally there is a "suggestion" across race radio after a few riders get the urge, and the group slows enough to allow them back on after a reasonable time.

As for going en-roleúer thats why they often get a bidon of fresh water to "flush" the shoes & shorts with after a splash... Landis must have been peeing like crazy last year with all the dams he emptied over his head and shorts , on his crazy ride into history*/infamy*. (*strike out as appropriate after USADA etc finish with him)

I watched that last year. I just thought he was really hot, had no
idea he was pissing his pants (ewwww!)

Thanks for the explanations everyone.
